eBay has just issued its own gentle reminder and we’d like to pass that on!
Just to recap, all sellers now need to specify who pays for returns, buyer or seller, as well as offering a minimum 14 day return period. eBay wants to remind sellers that it’s compulsory for all business sellers. Interestingly, the EU has changed the law regarding consumer rights and returns. Currently, this stands at 7 working days minimum, but it will change in 2014 to 14 working days. So, eBay are just keeping one step ahead and ensuring at all eBay sellers are compliant when the new law comes into force.
eBay has also carried out extensive research which has proven that buyers prefer to purchase from sellers with a clear returns policy. It gives them a greater peace of mind.
So, the mandatory 14 day returns policy actually helps you as a seller. It builds trust and makes you more credible in the eyes of the consumer, which is all great news. So, we advise that you give your listings the once over to check that they are comply with eBay’s 14 day returns policy so you can keep selling!
