Big name brands and high street giants such as Mothercare, Mamas & Papas, Argos and Toys R Us have now opened their own stores on the eBay UK platform.
It’s probably no surprise that the baby market in the United Kingdom is booming. In fact, according to the consumer trends company Mintel, this sector is currently worth £3.6bn in the UK alone.
We’ve already seen many large high street retailers and brands open stores on the eBay platform, and now companies catering to babies and toddlers are hot on their heels. Names include Argos, Toys R Us, Mamas & Papas and Mothercare.
So, naturally eBay UK has been busily extending its baby and toddler category. So, parents to be and those with babies and toddlers now have their own go-to shop to cater for all their needs.
These high profile retailers are joining in excess of 100 trusted high street shops and brands and entering into eBay’s omni-channel strategy. This means that parents can pick up everything they need from their favourite brands, whether it’s cots, pushchairs, toys, clothing, nappies or any other nursing essentials.
eBay UK’s Vice president, Tanya Lawler, is “delighted” with the new extended baby and toddler category. It’s a case of listening to customers and then catering to their needs. So, the category contains everything from pre-loved items, independent retailers offering bespoke items and parents’ favourite branded goods. There is something for everyone – which has always been one of eBay’s main strengths. So, the extended baby and toddler category is already a huge success.
eBay places great importance on monitoring their shoppers. The depth of knowledge about the various consumer demographics means that they can track trends and keep up with consumer demands. Offering high profile brands and retailers is one of their latest responses to its customers. This is why eBay UK alone has 18 million unique visitors each month! So far, at the very least, one pushchair/pram is sold on eBay UK per minute.
