Although the Sony PlayStation 4 has only been available for a matter of days, the sales on eBay have gone through the roof. Over 16,000 units have been listed on the site.eBay says that 10,000 PS4 consoles alone were sold between November 15th to 17th – this is an average of two PS4s per minute.
In addition to the massive consumer demand for the PS4, sales on current generation games consoles such as Sony’s PlayStation 3 have also risen sharply on eBay. It looks as though this is largely down to people selling their current games consoles to raise money for a new PS4.
Scalpers already cashing in
NBC Newsreported that scalpers had already been cashing in, offering people the price they paid on a PS4 plus an extra $50. They then went on to sell the consoles for an additional $100 above the rrp on eBay.
